The Secret to Becoming the Great Human

From Self-Interest to Cosmic Welfare: The Secret to Human Greatness

It is an established axiom of human psychology that self-interest is the primary driver of human nature. To claim that the entirety of human action is fundamentally motivated by personal benefit is not an exaggeration; it is an undeniable reality. Whether a philosophy is religious, spiritual, or human-centric, its roots and focal point invariably trace back to human needs and self-preservation. This benefit manifests in various dimensions: worldly gains, afterlife success, physical comfort, or psychological and emotional fulfillment. Even when an individual dedicates their life to the collective betterment of humanity, they remain the ultimate beneficiary, as the act of elevating others grants the deepest sense of internal peace and purpose.

Human cognitive evolution begins at this very baseline of personal necessity. However, as human consciousness matures, the radius of this self-interest naturally expands. It transcends the confinement of the ego and stretches out to encompass the welfare of all humanity. The "secret" I wish to uncover operates on this exact cosmic philosophy. The cognitive thinking process behind any philosophy is what ultimately catalyzes human action.

Once we establish that self-interest is the most cherished human driver, we must follow this premise to its logical conclusion and ask a pivotal question: What is the absolute highest form of benefit or profit a human can attain?

In my view, the greatest benefit to a human being is "light." Light provides the foundation for consciousness, illuminates the path forward, and serves as the bedrock of critical thought. If we treat light as the ultimate symbol of value and benefit, we recognize its unique inherent property: it possesses an infinite capacity to expand outward. The nature of light dictates that the higher its source is elevated, the wider its radius of impact becomes. In our physical universe, the sun stands as the ultimate source of light and energy. By virtue of its elevation, the sun selflessly fuels the entire cosmos under a grand, deliberate design. The sun's mechanism offers a profound blueprint for how we, as humans, ought to extend benefit to others.

This brings us directly to the revolutionary secret. I once read a profound maxim: "The best among humans is the one who brings benefit to other humans."

Upon deep contemplation of this single sentence, I realized that the secret to igniting a true global revolution and turning this world into an ideal sanctuary lies hidden within these few words. If we analyze the word "profit" or "benefit" (Nafa), even a standard intellect can deduce that true profit is always a value addition—an increment over the baseline cost. This proves that authentic, higher-level profit must be altruistic and selfless.

Looking at our current surroundings, everyone is caught in a relentless daily grind to fulfill their own needs and ease their personal lives. Modern socio-economic and socio-political theories revolve entirely around these survival needs. Currently, the dominant global force is capitalism, a system that commodifies everything and anchors itself strictly to ego-centric, material gains. The sheer beauty of the secret I am proposing is that it flips this script entirely. It shifts the trajectory of human effort, redirecting it away from the self and toward the collective whole.

Human beings cannot be forced to act against their free will without conviction. True behavioral change only happens when the underlying thought process is fundamentally restructured through logic. A secret, in its essence, is the latent wisdom behind a philosophy. Once that wisdom is intellectually unlocked, human nature naturally aligns itself to act upon it.

Let us look at this revolutionary secret through a very simple mathematical lens. If the world's population stands at eight billion, and every single individual is currently channeling their talents and energies solely into their own self-interest, what would happen if we mathematically redirected that focus toward "the other"?

When the focal point shifts from the ego to humanity, an individual transforms into a source of light. They begin striving to expand the reach of their capabilities to the edges of the earth. To widen this radius of impact, they will naturally seek to elevate themselves in knowledge, ethics, and stature—not out of vanity, but to maximize their capacity to serve. They still benefit individually, but the ultimate purpose of their personal elevation becomes the elevation of mankind.

Consider the compounding effect of this scenario: When this mindset diffuses across society, every individual ceases to be an isolated island fighting against eight billion competitors. Instead, because everyone’s primary objective has become the welfare of the other, a beautiful paradox occurs. In this ideal ecosystem, the entire global population of eight billion people is actively thinking about, protecting, and working for your benefit. This is the ultimate formula capable of triggering a sustainable, peaceful revolution.

I discovered this motivational secret rooted deeply in the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, preserved in the intellectual and spiritual compendium known as the Quran. The man who delivered this ocean of knowledge to the world, Muhammad ﷺ, explicitly maintained that this was not his personal invention, but a divine blueprint granted by the Creator for the ultimate upliftment of humanity. The timeless maxim reads:

"Khair-un-Naas Man Yanfa'un-Naas"

(The best of people are those who bring most benefit to the people.)

There are numerous other dimensions to this revolutionary secret that we will continue to explore. In the next essay, we will deliberately analyze whether such a system can practically manifest amidst the ruthless challenges of our modern materialistic world, and what an individual stands to gain internally by pursuing this path, even if the world around them refuses to change.
